The Prussians are coming!

Not so much coming … as arrived!

I finally finished basing the Prussian Del Prado pre-painted 25/28mm-scale Napoleonic figures that I own … although I have a few more that I bought recently on eBay that are yet to arrive.

Prussian Infantry

Prussian Cavalry

Prussian Artillery

Note: They are currently using ‘borrowed’ British ordnance. I hope to replace this with appropriate Prussian artillery pieces in due course.

Prussian Generals and Officers

I have gloss varnished the figures to protect them from minor damage and painted the bases with Humbrol Matt Grass Green enamel paint because I like the Toy Soldier/Old School ‘look’ that is a result.

I am rather pleased with the way these Prussian figures have turned out, and I am looking forward to doing the next batch of figures from my collection.

Not come across these figures before – look interesting though ! , Tony

They look great Bob. huge fan of the gloss old-skool toy soldier look. These'll be great for your BatReps 🙂

  3. A.W. Kitchen,

These figures were sold some years ago as a partwork by Del Prado. They came with a monthly magazine that covered the history of the Napoleonic Wars.

I bought the original series and have – over the years – 'topped up' my collection with purchases on eBay.

    All the best,

  4. Blaxcleric,

Thanks for your kind comment. I think that the 'Old School' look reminds one that they are toy soldiers used to play wargames … and they look good as well!

Hopefully I shall finish varnishing and basing the rest of the collection well before my deadline, the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo.

    All the best,

They look great – I assume then that you have some French and British too?

  6. Stryker,

    Thanks for your kind comment.

The collection also includes British, French, Brunswick, and Dutch-Belgian troops … and is the latter two that I intend to varnish and base next.

    All the best,

Your Prussian troops look like they'll give a good account of themselves at Ligny and Wavre! The toy soldier style works well – especially with stylised terrain like Hexon tiles and your wooden buildings.
I look forward to seeing the other nations on parade in due course.

  8. Arthur1815,

I have always had a soft spot for the Prussian Army of 1815, and hope that they will perform as well as they look.

Over the years my wargames have become more and more stylised in appearance, and this seems to have gone hand-in-hand with a growing sense of enjoyment and fun. I just wish that I had used this approach years ago.

    All the best,

  9. Brigadier General,

Thanks … I must admit that I rather like the way they have turned out.

    All the best,
